The Roundtable FoundationThe Roundtable is a virtual entity, designed to allow unique, high quality organisations in the field of learning to engage with one another to enhance their respective and collective offerings and through success give back to education. As a member of the roundtable you will have access to all other members. You will also be able to engage with any number of contributors to the round table. These will have specific value to add to the round table, but do not warrant full membership and are a changing group. The key to this relationship is collaboration. In the world of learning there are many players with diverse and valuable contributions to bring to the learner. Unfortunately very few of them have grown to a size to begin to influence national and international thinking in the field. All too often areas of research are not brought to the attention of the public, and even more relevant, to the attention of practitioners in the field. The goal of the round table is to allow entities to share good practise, create a louder collective voice, and begin to deliver solutions to the learning sector that embrace and leverage latest thinking and research, whilst remaining practical. We do not seek to pigeon whole people or organisations with this relationship, nor stifle their own creative spirit and drive. Our mission is to make a difference, to enhance learning and to have fun. The motto to any roundtable relationship, whether full or part, is “win win – no deal”. In other words if it does not add value to both parties, and the client, then there is no point in perusing it. There is no King Arthur at this round table – every one is a knight, and all members are free to bring opportunities to the table that they believe can be better served through a collective approach. The Learning Partnership as the founding member and not for profit organisation, may well be involved in many of the initial projects, but this is not a given, and does not preclude other round table members working together in their own right. The Chair person to the roundtable will be voted for annually by Roundtable members, although in the first year The Learning Partnership will act as Chair in order to kick start the membership. The final principal is simply one of quality. Everything we do under the guise of the round table must represent the quality kite mark you would expect from your own personal and organisational activities. The Roundtable is being formed as a charitable foundation, and any revenues between roundtable members will be subject to a 10% fee. Monies raised by the roundtable will be channelled toward education projects in deprived parts of the world. In so doing, whilst all roundtable members have clear benefits to membership, the entity itself will become a force for good in the education sector, creating a brand identity all of its own.
