One to One coaching for enhanced Group presentations

This is a brief outline of what a 1:1 coaching session entails when considering presenting.

The key to a successful intervention is to firstly understand where in the process we are coming in. For example are we assisting an individual or a team to improve a prepared presentation, such as an IPO Bid, or are we entering the process before script writing has occured. Through early discussion with the individual or group, a context is set from which we can then draw on any of the following to deliver the desired outcome.

All sessions will touch on some or all of that listed below. Our aim is to ensure that the presenter presents in a calm relaxed manner allowing their true personality to shine through creating an engaging delivery that compels people to listen.

1. Body Language:

We look at the simple physical strategies used by great presenters to acheive outstanding results. These include

  • How to access calm and still the nerves
  • How to access energy on demand through the use of anchors
  • State management
  • The use of the SATIR category patterns to move the audience mentally through the use of physical movements (hands)
2. Voice:
Probably the single most important differentiator between the average and the great. We explore the use of the individual’s voice ensuring they maximise the use of volume, tone, speed, emphasis and pauses in order to create dramatic effect and audience engagement.
3. Words:
We look at the script being used and check the inclusion of Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic language. We ensure that the presenter is familiar with, and uses such techniques as embedded commands, innoculators, yes sets, the power of negativity and presuppositions as well as the use of similies and metaphors to create greater inclusion. Question handling techniques are also covered where necessary.
4. Presentation structure:
Where relevant we will look at the use of PowerPoint, ensuring that it does not impinge on the presentation itself.
5. Background Brain Functionality:
Where it makes sense to do so, we can explore the reality of current knowledge around brain functionality, so that there are guiding principals behind all future presentation design and delivery. It is important that presenters understand that over any givern learning experience there will be key moments where the audience will naturallly be lost through simple, natural chemical reactions in the brain. A knowledge and understanding of these processes and how to deal with them effectively can be hugely influential on the end outcome.
