Dr Andy Gill qualified as a Social Worker in 1984 and has worked in Children’s Services within the statutory, voluntary and private sectors. In 1998 he gained a PhD in Psychology after completing a major research project on “what makes parent training groups effective”. Most recently he has managed the nationally recognised Portsmouth Children’s Trust which was one of the first Government Pathfinders launched in 2003. This work has involved extensive experience in:

Andy led on Portsmouth being the first Local Authority to fully adopt the outcomes framework with the development of the Portsmouth 8 outcomes which followed consultation with over 2,500 local people and professionals. The Portsmouth 8 was featured in Every Child Matters.

Andy has also helped to set-up a national voluntary organisation, the Centre for Fun and Families based in Leicester; managed the NSPCC South East Hants. Child Protection Team, the Farnborough Family Support Centre; and was appointed as Portsmouth Children’s Fund Manager in 2000.
